March Break Family Days

Come to Elbow Lake on either Wednesday March 12 or Thursday March 13th, to explore the property with all your senses!

In the morning, enjoy a guided hike led by our Outreach Coordinator, who will invite you to experience the natural world using your senses of sight, sound, taste, touch and smell. In the afternoon, learn the basics of composing a good photograph and then grab your phone or camera to explore on your own and practice your newfound skills. Choose your best photo to turn into a unique artwork!

Programming will be the same on both days. The sensory walk will depart from the campfire at 10:30am and the photography session will start in the Pavilion at 1pm. Please pack your own picnic lunch, which you can enjoy in the Pavilion or out at the campfire. We will have hot chocolate available at the Pavilion in between the activities.

Please note you will need to bring your own phone or digital camera for the photography session.

Registration is required to attend, and all ages are welcome at this event. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Cost: $10/youth participant, $5 OPTION for adults who would like to complete the artwork.

Optional Cabin Rental

As part of our event, families have the opportunity to stay overnight in one of our cabins ($90/night per cabin) on either Tuesday, March 11, Wednesday, March 12 or Thursday, March 13. Cabin check-in is between 2:00pm and 4:00pm each day; check out is at 11:00am each morning. You can rent a cabin for multiple nights if you wish.

The Cabins

All identical, each cabin is serviced with electricity for light and baseboard heat. Each cabin has a sitting area, as well as a non-serviced kitchen area with a full-sized fridge with freezer, as well as countertop, cupboards and shelves. Cabins have two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with a single bed bunked over a double bed. In addition, a pull-out single cot is available. While the maximum occupancy of each cabin is set at 6 persons, recommended occupancy is a comfortable 3-4 people/cabin.

The Facility

At the centre of the ELEEC facility is the Pavilion, a common space housing a fully-equipped self-use kitchen, dining/meeting space, and washrooms with showers. Registered guests are also welcome to cook on the propane BBQ outside the building.

Recreation

From exploring the property’s 8 km of pedestrian trails to socializing around the campfire at the communal firepit (firewood $8/bag, paid in cash at the event), there are many recreation opportunities during your stay.

For any other questions, please contact us.

You can also refer to our user guide for more information about the facility and staying overnight.
