Honouring the Word Warriors: Extending the Legacy of Indigenous Literary Creators, May 30-June 1

This gathering acknowledges the responsibility of carrying forward the legacies of our literary forebears to inform and strengthen contemporary artistic innovations. The event will include a series of interviews pairing elder authors with literary descendants, a roundtable discussion about the Indigenous literary scene in the 1980s and 1990s, literary readings, and a performance of work written by the late playwright Daniel David Moses. Come together with Nicola Campbell, Liz Howard, Conor Kerr, Emily Riddle and Joshua Whitehead to celebrate a  formative era in literary creation ushered in by literary creators including our six guests of honour: Jeannette Armstrong, Marilyn Dumont, Louise Halfe, Tomson Highway, Armand Garnet Ruffo, and Drew Hayden Taylor.
