Title: Born into Inequities: A Life Course Perspective on Health and Future Directions
We are delighted to have Dr. Maria Ospina, an eminent Canada Research Chair, speak to us. We know that non-clinical aspects of life, such as social, environmental, behavioral, psychological, and economic factors, or what is called the sociome, play significant roles in shaping patient health and health outcomes. Dr. Ospina’s extensive research examines these factors in pregnancy and early childhood, investigating how they shape health trajectories and contribute to long-term health inequalities. Dr. Ospina has received outstanding support for her research and has published extensively. In recognition of her innovative research and academic leadership, she received the Martha Cook Piper Research Prize at the University of Alberta in 2020. We look forward to her insights.
